A strong back and proper identification are all would-be shovelers need to help the Gophers get ready for their biggest football game of the season yet.
Monday and Tuesday's wintry wonderland left tons of snow in the stands of TCF Bank Stadium, site of Saturday's brunch-time battle between Minnesota and the visiting Buckeyes from Ohio State.
Stadium operators said they are welcoming shovelers for heavy lifting during two shifts each through Friday. Pay is $10 per hour (not cash), and shovels are provided.
"There are some spots in the stadium that need minimal shoveling, while drifting of snow caused there to be some areas that need significant shoveling to get the stadium ready for Saturday," said Paul Rovnak, U spokesman for the football team. "What's more Minnesotan than helping your neighbor shovel?"
Those willing to pitch in are being instructed to show up at the Lincoln County entrance and bring two forms of ID, with one being either a Social Security card or a birth certificate. Also, you must be 18 or older.
Here's the schedule (arrive 30 minutes early to complete paperwork):
Thursday: 1-5 p.m. and 6-10 p.m.
Friday: 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m.
