A 17-year-old boy is dead after a shooting Thursday night in Fridley, authorities said.
Officers were called to the area near 6100 5th Street NE. on multiple reports of shots fired, including some stating that a male was hurt, according to Lt. Dan Douglas of the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
When Fridley police arrived, they found the 17-year-old, who is from Minneapolis, Douglas said. The teenager was taken to HCMC in Minneapolis, where he later died.
The teen's name was not being released pending notification of his relatives. Investigators were interviewing witnesses, Douglas said.
Douglas said the case does not appear to be random and the public is not at risk.
