U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar is back in Iowa next weekend for a forum on rural issues.
The Democratic presidential candidate is participating in the Heartland Forum on Saturday in Storm Lake, in northwestern Iowa. Several other Democratic candidates are also participating, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren, former HUD Secretary Julian Castro, and Reps. John Delaney and Tim Ryan.
The forum is sponsored by HuffPost, Open Markets Action, the Storm Lake Times and the Iowa Farmers Union.
It's meant to "provide a unique opportunity for presidential candidates to present a vision and policy agenda to reverse rural and small-town America's declining living conditions," according to a news release touting the forum. "From agricultural consolidation and the collapse of manufacturing to the disappearance of local journalism, the forum seeks to surface new, high-impact ideas for revitalizing America's heartland communities."
Klobuchar has been spending a lot of time in Iowa, which holds the first-in-the-nation presidential caucus on Feb. 3, 2020. Last weekend, she held eight campaign events in six eastern Iowa towns over 36 hours.
A March 3-6 poll of Iowa caucusgoers by the Des Moines Register had Klobuchar at 3 percent, trailing Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders, Warren, Kamala Harris and Beto O'Rourke.
