Twice a week at 7 a.m., homeless people and volunteers at the Listening House in St. Paul lace up their donated shoes and go for a run. What began as a way to get a little exercise (and a lot of self-esteem) has grown into an annual race/walk at Upper Landing in St. Paul, where you raise money, raise awareness and raise your heart rate by running with and in support of the homeless. Oh, and it's scheduled for May 17 (the very day Best of MN is published) — so put the paper down and get out there. andersonraces.com/events
