Sometimes just before, sometimes right after the Twin Cities Marathon, the Audubon Center of the North Woods' Renewable Trail Run/Walk is the perfect counterpoint to our flagship road race. Rural and small, timed by stopwatch and clipboard, the Audubon has developed a cult following in its seven years; a few can even claim to have run them all. Afterward, there are awards, a craft fair and a hot lunch — all part of the ÂCenter's Open Day fundraiser (this year, it's on Sept. 26). 54165 Audubon Dr., Sandstone; 1-320-245-2648; audubon-center.org/events
