Canterbury Park postponed Saturday night's races, rescheduling the eight-race card for Thursday because of projected excessive heat.
Racing on Thursday will begin at 5 p.m.
"In keeping with safety protocols, we have determined the best course of action is to run Saturday's program on Thursday evening," Canterbury Park Director of Racing Chris Merz said in a news release.
Sunday's race card remained scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
Otterdahl takes fifth
Rosemount's Payton Otterdahl earned his highest finish yet at a global championship meet, placing fifth in the shot put at the world athletics championships on Saturday in Budapest, Hungary.
Otterdahl, a former NCAA champion thrower at North Dakota State, registered a throw of 71 feet, 8¾ to take fifth place. American teammate Ryan Crouser — the shot put world record holder and reigning world champion — defended his crown with a mark of 77-1¾.
Otterdahl stands at No. 4 in the latest edition of the world rankings for the shot put.
Otterdahl finished 10th in the shot put at the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2021. He competed for North Dakota State from 2015 to '19, setting the collegiate indoor shot put record and winning NCAA indoor titles in the shot put and weight throw in 2019.
