1. Detroit

The Tigers offense is dangerous with Victor Martinez healthy and Torii Hunter added. Rookie Bruce Rondon might close, or the team can trade for bullpen help.

2. Toronto

The Blue Jays grabbed the headlines with offseason moves to boost their rotation and middle infield. They could use a power hitter at first base, though.

3. Texas

Josh Hamilton is gone, but the Rangers still have a good lineup, strong rotation and solid bullpen. Yu Darvish is one year wiser after a 16-win debut season.

4. Tampa Bay

James Shields is gone, but the rotation remains deep. The problem has been offense, but here to help is … Luke Scott?

5. Los Angeles

Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and, now, Josh Hamilton. Wow. They will have to slug their way to the postseason because the rotation isn't that deep.

6. Baltimore

A full season of Manny Machado will be fun to watch, but the Birds didn't do much in the offseason while the Rays and Jays made big moves in the East.

7. Oakland

Pitching staff gave up 614 runs in 2012, and staff ace Brett Anderson is healthy and available for a full season. The A's can't be counted out in the West.

8. Kansas City

James Shields and Wade Davis bring credibility to the Royals' rotation. Eric Hosmer should improve, so KC will make a big jump this year.

9. Chicago

The White Sox didn't make any major additions, so they are banking on Chris Sale and other young players step up. Paul Konerko is 37 years old. Hmmm … .

10. New York

A-Rod, Curtis Granderson and Mark Teixeira are injured. Andy Pettitte is 40. Hiroki Kuroda is 38. Phil Hughes has back problems. Dark clouds are forming.

11. Minnesota

Justin Morneau looks ready for a big year. Mike Pelfrey, Vance Worley and Kyle Gibson should boost the rotation. But fans want to fast forward to 2015.

12. Cleveland

The Indians offense will be better in 2013 with Mark Reynolds, Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher. The pitching staff, however, didn't receive any notable upgrades.

13. Boston

Red Sox seem to be banking on peace, calm and tranquility in the clubhouse in order to win. Sounds like the 2011 Vikings, and we saw where that got them.

14. Seattle

The fences are coming in at Safeco Field, which could help the Mariners offense. But it also could be bad news when they call on young starters such as Danny Hultzen.

15. Houston

Welcome to the AL, Astros — and pack a lunch. They are hard to watch now, but a lot is going on behind the scenes and the future looks promising.
