'Roadrunner'
Director Morgan Neville's documentary does a nice job of explaining how Anthony Bourdain became one of America's most beloved storytellers, traveling the globe in search of great food and even greater knowledge. But the "20 Feet From Stardom" filmmaker is equally interested in exploring the late chef's inner conflict, a war between his desire for normalcy and an addiction to the spotlight. There are some charming moments but what resonates most is the final fourth of the movie that bears down on turbulent times that led to Bourdain's suicide in 2018. 8 p.m. Sunday, CNN
'Game Theory With Bomani Jones'
Those enjoying "Back on the Record With Bob Costas" have to be impressed with the on-air editorials from longtime sports journalist Bomani Jones. He's not afraid to take controversial stands, and has done the research to back them up. Jones will get even more exposure during the six-week trial run of his sports show featuring 30-minute segments. Oscar winner Adam McKay, who shepherded the terrific new miniseries "Winning Time," is among the executive producers. 10:30 p.m. Sunday, HBO
'Phoenix Rising'
Evan Rachel Wood has earned accolades for her work in "Thirteen," "Mildred Pierce" and "Westworld." But it's her real-life role as activist that impresses the most. Amy Berg's two-part documentary chronicles the actor's claims that rock musician Marilyn Manson abused and tortured her during their relationship, as well as her campaign to get lawmakers to take domestic violence cases more seriously. If you were unsettled by "Allen v. Farrow," this film will shake you to the core. 8 p.m. Tuesday, HBO
'Mr. Mayor'
Despite the star wattage of Ted Danson and Holly Hunter on screen and Tina Fey behind it, this sitcom has yet to receive the attention it deserves. Maybe it'll have better luck in this second season. Viewers outside the Los Angeles metro may have a hard time relating to jokes about the city's traffic, homelessness and heat waves. But the Midwest hasn't been totally overlooked. Stay tuned for a hilarious guest appearance by Duluth's own Maria Bamford as a New Age landlord. 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, KARE. Ch. 11
'Beyond the Edge'
This new reality competition looks so familiar that it should have been billed as a celebrity edition of "Survivor." Model Paulina Porizkova, NFL legend Mike Singletary, "Full House" favorite Jodie Sweetin and "Bachelor" veteran Colton Underwood are among the recognizable names braving the Panamanian jungles. 8 p.m. Wednesday, WCCO, Ch. 4.
