First Lady Michelle Obama will rally Minnesotans with Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and U.S. Sen. Al Franken on Oct. 21, the DFL Party said Wednesday.
The party described the visit as a grass-roots, get-out-the-vote event, but released few details.
Michelle Obama is among a growing list of big names who have come to Minnesota to energize partisans.
This week, Republican Governors Association chairman Chris Christie visited a Columbia Heights charter school with Republican gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson and Republican U.S. Senate candidate Mike McFadden.
Earlier, former President Bill Clinton held an event with Dayton and Franken. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is also campaigning with Franken this weekend. Vice President Joe Biden is to headline a rally for U.S. Rep. Rick Nolan in the Eighth Congressional District on Oct. 23.
One heavy hitter not yet on the list: President Obama. The Democratic president, whose poll numbers are down in Minnesota, is road tripping to other states, but Minnesota is not on his travel schedule. Linden Zakula, Dayton's spokesman, said the campaign had not yet asked him to visit.
