Harmon Killebrew hit some of the most memorable home runs in Twins history. Here are five that stand out:1 JULY 11, 1965

His two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning on a 3-2 pitch off Pete Mikkelsen lifted the Twins to a 6-5 victory over the mighty Yankees in the final game before the All-Star break. The homer gave the Twins a five-game lead and the momentum to claim their first AL pennant in Minnesota.

2 JUNE 3, 1967

He became the first player to hit a ball into the second deck of Metropolitan Stadium's left field pavilion. The three-run blast, off California's Lew Burdette, was estimated to have traveled 522 feet.

3 JUNE 4, 1967

A day after his 522-foot shot, just as Twins PA announcer Bob Casey was paying tribute to the homer off Burdette, Killebrew hit a ball off the Angels' Jack Sanford that caromed off the second-deck facing in left- center. Killebrew said he hit that ball harder than the one off Burdette.

4 AUG. 3, 1962

Killebrew became the first player to homer over the left field roof of fabled Tiger Stadium. The blast came off Detroit ace Jim Bunning.

5 AUG. 10, 1971

Killebrew became the 10th player in major league history to hit his 500th homer, the historic shot coming in the first inning off Baltimore's Mike Cuellar. Killebrew had stalled at 499 the previous 13 games, and had only one homer in 35 games before his blast off Cuellar. He hit 501 off Cuellar two at-bats later.
