1.The Pitino connection: Rick Pitino, father of Gophers coach Richard Pitino, coached Louisville from 2001-17 before the school fired him in the aftermath of a recruiting scandal.
2.First-year coach: Chris Mack previously coached Xavier from 2009-18, making the NCAA tournament all but one year.
3.Tourney history: They have two official NCAA titles, with the 2013 one vacated after the scandal, and 38 appearances.
4.The numbers: Louisville compiled a 20-13 record with the fourth-toughest strength of schedule in the country.
5.Player to watch: Sophomore forward Jordan Nwora is the team's leading scorer (17.2) and rebounder (7.5).
