About the Gophers (19-11): Fifth-year senior guard Rachel Banham — the Big Ten's all-time leading scorer — is poised to move up the NCAA career scoring list as the Gophers make their fourth appearance in the WNIT. Currently in 10th place with 3,008 points, Banham is 10 points behind Cheryl Miller, 17 behind Chamique Holdsclaw, 28 behind Maya Moore and 31 behind Elena Delle Donne. Banham is averaging 27.6 points per game, second in the nation. Sophomore guard Carlie Wagner needs 24 points to reach 1,000 for her career; she is averaging 19.3 points this season. The Gophers are scoring 83.3 points per game — which ranks fifth nationally — and are on course to break the program record of 80.2 set in the 1981-82 season.

About Wisconsin-Milwaukee (19-12): The Panthers were predicted to finish ninth in the Horizon League but went 12-6 in conference play to finish second. They are making their first postseason tournament appearance since 2006. The roster includes two Minnesotans: junior guard Sierra Ford-Washington (Richfield), the team's second-leading scorer averaging 13.4 points per game, and junior center Christina Wakeman (Spring Lake Park). Sophomore forward Steph Kostowicz is averaging team highs of 13.5 points and 8.8 rebounds, and sophomore guard Jenny Lindner scores 13.3 points per game. The Panthers lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay 64-32 in the championship game of the Horizon League tournament.
