Gophers update: This will be the Gophers' first game after point guard Jasmine Powell's decision to leave the team and enter the transfer portal. The Gophers (9-12, 2-7 Big Ten) have lost four in a row and is 0-4 at home in Big Ten play. Minnesota has won its past five games vs. Wisconsin, including an 82-66 victory in Madison on Jan. 12, and is 6-1 vs. the Badgers under coach Lindsay Whalen. G Sara Scalia has scored in double figures in 11 straight games, averaging 19.5 points and shooting 46.2 percent on three-pointers in that time. Deja Winters has averaged 15.8 points over her last six games, hitting 23 of 48 threes in that time (47.9%). This is the 83rd game against Wisconsin, the most of any Gophers opponent.
Wisconsin update: The Badgers (5-14, 2-7), under first-year coach Marisa Moseley, have lost two of three games, both losses coming on the road, with a 12-point home victory over Penn State in between. Wisconsin lost by 33 points at Nebraska on Thursday. They scored a season low of 44 points in the two losses, the other coming at Michigan. Wisconsin is 13th in the 14-team Big Ten in points per game (57.8), shooting percentage (39.6) and three-point shooting (29.6). Julie Pospisilova (14.5) and G Sydney Hilliard (12.8) are the only two Badgers players averaging in double figures.
