Josh Penrod is the Head of Design for the Minnesota Star Tribune. Josh works across the Strib to establish and maintain a consistent design vision, and to ensure that consumer-facing products can leverage the brand’s visual standards for reader engagement and user experience.

For more than two decades in newsrooms and as a studio designer, Josh has worked with some of the world's leading brands — including the NFL, the University of Notre Dame, UCLA, J.P. Morgan Chase, Fast Company and National Geographic — to create experiences built on user-focused design, tight narratives and highly interactive content. In 2014, Josh joined the Minnesota Star Tribune, where held roles as the Assistant Managing Editor for Digital Design and Graphics, and Presentation Director. Born and raised in the Carolinas, he has lived on both coasts and has held design positions with Joe Zeff Design, the Los Angeles Times, The New York Times and The San Diego Union-Tribune. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, Josh lives in Falcon Heights with his wife and two children. He also has mild obsessions with college football, sneakers and Gamecock sports.
