LATE SATURDAY NIGHT game recaps • LOS ANGELES ANGELS 1, KANSAS CITY 0: Lefthander Joe Saunders bested major league ERA leader Zack Greinke, throwing a five-hitter to lead the Angels past the Royals at Anaheim, Calif. Greinke, winner of his first six starts, gave up a run on four hits without a walk over eight innings. Saunders walked one and struck out six over nine. Chone Figgins' sacrifice fly in the third was all the support he needed. In the ninth, Saunders struck out Mark Teahen and Jose Guillen, then got Billy Butler to fly out to center field to end the game. It was the Angels' first shutout since Ervin Santana did it on May 5, 2008. Greinke came into the game with a 0.40 ERA. The righthander's ERA rose to 0.51, still better than the Mets' Johan Santana, who leads the NL at 0.91.
