Lynx center Sylvia Fowles has three Olympic gold medals, was the Most Valuable Player of the 2015 WNBA Finals and is a three-time league defensive player of the year. Now she can add one more accomplishment to her resume: Fowles' No. 34 LSU jersey is being retired.

Fowles joins, among others, Lynx teammate Seimone Augustus, Shaquille O'Neal and Pete Maravich as 12 Tigers with retired jerseys. "Sylvia Fowles is a woman of great influence and compassion who has brought worldwide recognition to our university and to our state," said LSU Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Joe Alleva in a statement released Monday. "Her impact has been felt not only through her achievements as a basketball player, but also in her philanthropic work for young people. We are thrilled to honor her legacy by retiring her jersey in the Maravich Center." Fowles was previously inducted into the LSU Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015. She helped lead the Tigers to four straight trips to the Final Four from 2005 to 2008 and was a two-time All-America center. Drafted in the first round by the Chicago Sky, she is now a veteran stalwart for the Lynx. She also founded the Sylvia Fowles Family Fund and is a spokesperson for CURE: Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy.
