One man was killed and another wounded during a stabbing attack on New Year's Eve in a southwestern Minnesota bar, officials said.
The stabbings occurred about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday at the Phat Pheasant Pub on Hwy. 60 in Windom, police said.
A 30-year-old man from Windom was taken to Windom Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to police, while a 31-year-old man was less seriously wounded.
Police found the suspect at the bar and arrested him. The 26-year-old man was treated at Windom Hospital for minor injuries and now remains in the Cottonwood County jail Thursday on suspicion of first-degree murder, second-degree assault and terroristic threats.
The man has yet to be charged. The Star Tribune generally does not identify suspects before they are charged.
Brittany Layman identified the man who died as her brother, Benjamin Matter.
"Ben absolutely adored and was so in love with his future wife, Cara, who he's been with since high school," Layman posted on an online fund-raising campaign that was started on behalf of his fiancee. "Ben was a dad of 2 amazing children."
