One of Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell's former players, ex-Rams star Cooper Kupp, is headed to Seattle, reportedly for a three-year, $45 million deal.
But the Vikings played host to a different receiver, ex-Cardinals second-round pick Rondale Moore, on a free-agent visit, the team announced.
Moore, who turns 25 in June, did not play last year because of a season-ending knee injury suffered in an August joint practice between the Falcons and Dolphins. Moore, who was selected 49th overall out of Purdue in 2021, was traded from Arizona to Atlanta last March.
When healthy, the undersized Moore (5-7, 181 pounds) can be a dynamic catch-and-run threat. The Vikings are also familiar with his big-play ability. Moore's longest NFL play to date came in his second professional game as a rookie in 2021, when the Cardinals beat the Vikings thanks, in part, to a 77-yard touchdown toss from Kyler Murray to Moore just before halftime.
The Vikings currently have six receivers — Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, Jalen Nailor, Lucky Jackson, Thayer Thomas and Jeshaun Jones — under contract for next season.
Receivers Trent Sherfield Sr. and Brandon Powell became free agents on Wednesday. Sherfield agreed to a two-year deal with the Broncos, while Powell remains unsigned.
Vikings return former LB from Zimmer era
Linebacker Eric Wilson has agreed to terms to return to the Vikings, the team announced via news release Friday.
Wilson is entering his ninth NFL season. He signed with the Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Cincinnati and stayed through 2020 playing under Mike Zimmer.
Wilson has since played for the Eagles (2021), Texans (2021) and, most recently, Packers (2022-24). He started 12 of 17 appearances for Green Bay last year, making 72 total tackles, two sacks and four quarterback hits. He also had an interception and a forced fumble.
D-line departure
Former first-round defensive end Jerry Tillery is signing a one-year deal with the Chiefs, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Tillery came to Minnesota on a one-year deal from the Raiders last year. He started 11 of the 17 games he appeared in, making 28 tackles and three quarterback hits.
The Chiefs will be Tillery's fourth team in seven seasons. He started his career with the Chargers in 2019 after being selected No. 28 overall in that year's draft.
