Officials on Monday identified the man who was fatally shot late at night in Columbia Heights, marking the city's first homicide of the year.
Ibrahim Faisal Dabarani, 20, of Minneapolis, was shot in the chest Friday and died about 12:10 a.m. at North Memorial Health Hospital in Robbinsdale, the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office said.
Police said they believe Dabarani was wounded in the 4200 block of Central Avenue NE. sometime before 11:40 p.m. and then dropped off at the hospital.
