President Joe Biden is traveling to Minnesota next week, according to the White House.
Biden will be in the state next Wednesday, but the White House didn't disclose the reason for his visit or where he's heading while he's here. The trip will be Biden's fourth to Minnesota since becoming president.
His last visit in April took him to the Cummins Power Generation plant in Fridley to talk about federal funding for clean energy jobs and economic growth. Biden also flew into the state in May of last year to speak at the memorial service for former Vice President Walter Mondale, and he spoke about the federal infrastructure package in Minnesota in a November 2021 trip.
It's the president's first visit since announcing he's seeking a second term in next fall's election. He beat former president Donald Trump in Minnesota by seven percentage points in 2020, but the Midwest — particularly neighboring Wisconsin — has become a battleground in the fight for the presidency.
Vice President Kamala Harris was also in Minnesota earlier this year to tour a bus manufacturer near St. Cloud to tout the production of electric buses.
