A reserve officer in the U.S. Army pleaded guilty Wednesday to trying to kidnap his ex-girlfriend last June at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Maj. Timothy J. Pentaleri, 42, of Belleville, Ill., had lost his job overseeing transportation for the U.S. Embassy in Pakistan over an allegation that he had been stalking the same woman. She obtained a no-contact order against him.

On June 29, an airport community service officer grew suspicious of Pentaleri, who had been lurking in the baggage-claim area. As police approached, he discarded a wig, a fake moustache and goatee.

Officers frisked Pentaleri and found a knife, pepper spray, a collapsible baton and a stun gun. They also found a stolen Minnesota license plate on the rear of his SUV.

Inside the vehicle was a large plastic liner, duct tape, plastic flex cuffs, rope and a shovel. A duffel bag contained a pillow case, sheets cut into strips, condoms, KY jelly and a camera, according to the U.S. attorney's office. Pentaleri also had a map with directions from the airport to an area near the woman's home in Minnesota.

Pentaleri faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced by U.S. District Judge Paul Magnuson.
