The St. Paul Saints hit three solo home runs, but the Iowa Cubs rallied from a four-run deficit to win 6-5 in 10 innings on Friday night at CHS Field.
The winning run came home on Juan Minaya's wild pitch. The Saints, who led 5-1 after five innings, loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 10th but couldn't score.
Tomas Tellis hit the Saints' first homer in the opening inning. J.T. Riddle and Damek Tomscha went deep in the fifth. In between those blasts, the Saints scored twice in the fourth inning on David Banuelos' run-scoring double and a wild pitch.
BOXSCORE: Iowa 6, Saints 5 (10)
Tony Wolters' three-run homer in the seventh got the Cubs within 5-4, and he tied the score in the ninth on an infield single.
Saints starter Andrew Albers, a 35-year-old lefthander who has served two stints with the Twins, gave up one run on four hits in six innings.
Reliever Robinson Leyer gave up two hits, including Wolters' game-changing blast, before he was taken out with two outs. Danny Coulombe's strikeout ended the inning.
