'Tis the season for a greater frequency of severe thunderstorms. This week, astorm crossing the southern Plains will slam into warm, moist air emerging fromthe Gulf of Mexico. The result will be an outbreak of strong to severethunderstorms from northeastern Texas to Tennessee and Kentucky. This storm is also going to produce quite a bit of rain. As much as 3 or 4inches will fall from Arkansas to the Virginias in the Thursday-Friday timeperiod. This could lead to some flooding, though major flooding of rivers isunlikely.
