Minneapolis and St. Paul were among metro-area cities declaring snow emergencies Saturday after a quick-moving winter storm dropped 2 to 5 inches of snow across the Twin Cities.
The heavier amounts were reported in Hennepin and Wright counties and on northwest to St. Cloud, according to the National Weather Service. Brooklyn Park, Plymouth, Edina and Lakeville all reported 5 inches. Washington County and other parts of the northeast metro saw less, with Stillwater reporting 2 inches.
In Wright County, St. Michael weighed in with 6 inches. The Weather Service said 4.5 inches were recorded at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
