The St. Paul City Council is expected to approve Wednesday a $140,000 settlement with a man who sued the city after he was struck by a city-owned vehicle driven by a public employee.
In a suit filed last August, Israel Orozco charged Mellissa Cavalier and the city with negligence when she failed to yield as he crossed Minnehaha Avenue in October 2013.
According to the suit, Cavalier's injuries required more than $4,000 in medical care and he was disabled for more than two months.
Orozco alleged that Cavalier's "inattention, carelessness and negligence caused this accident."
The settlement doesn't mean that the city admits liability in the case. It releases Cavalier and the city from any further claims made against them with regard to the incident.
