When live sports events stopped because of the coronavirus pandemic, we put a call-out to readers asking what they wanted to read, or reread if they were hankering for some history. We received more than three dozen requests for us to revisit an old story, an old moment, an athlete stashed away in memories.
A sampling of those ideas became a series we called Reader Requests. Here are those stories:
The legend of Minneapolis golf star Patty Berg.
Minneapolis Southwest's 1970 hockey championship win over Edina.
St. Paul native Dave Winfield drafted by three pro sports in 1973.
Janet Karvonen and three-peat New York Mills in the late 1970s.
The midsummer nightmare home run that felled the 1992 Twins.
