Eagan junior girls' tennis player Danielle Donahue opened the season with five consecutive victories. The Wildcats' No. 1 singles player won the Class 2A, Section 3 individual title a year ago. Here is a closer look at Donahue:
The best movie I've seen in the past year? I'm waiting to see if "Contagion" tops my list when it comes out. [The movie opened Friday.]
Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Very competitive; hard working; outgoing.
Favorite meal before a match? I like macaroni and cheese, but as long as I'm balancing proteins and carbohydrates it doesn't really matter to me.
How did you get started playing tennis? My older brothers both played varsity tennis for Eagan and my mom played when she was younger, so I've been around the tennis court for a while and I was very eager to start playing myself.
At my first varsity practice, I felt ... very excited and ready for the season to start.
What did you work on in the offseason? I worked on mostly footwork and my stamina.
What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? Making it to the state tournament last season in both the team and individual brackets.
To get focused for a match, I ... listen to music and go running to get my muscles warmed up.
When you have time off during vacation, what do you like to do? I like to lay on the beach and soak up the sun.
In 10 years, I hope I'm ... working in the field I graduate in and living in a warmer climate!
Do you have a secret talent -- and if so, what is it? If I told you, it wouldn't be a secret any more!
