FORT MYERS, FLA. – Jason Castro got all of a David Hess pitch in the first inning, belting a two-run no-doubter to right-center for the first runs of the game.

The Twins were just getting started.

By the end of the day, the Twins had six home runs — including two by Ehire Adrianza — as they outlasted Baltimore 12-8 at Hammond Stadium.

Willians Astudillo, Luke Raley and Tyler Austin also homered as the Twins took over the spring training lead with 40 home runs as a team. Their lead is pending the results of late games.

Byron Buxton and Adam Rosales lead the Twins with four home runs apiece.

"I'm happy to see a lot of home runs today," Twins righthander Michael Pineda, who stands to benefit from any power surge. "It's pretty good."

Pineda threw three shutout innings before weakening in the fourth and giving up three runs and four hits while striking out four.

Hess, who is scheduled to start the season in the Orioles rotation, gave up nine runs on nine hits — including four home runs.

Adrianza homered from both sides of the plate, proving that his surgically repaired left shoulder is fine. He injured the shoulder late last season, which made it hard for him to bat righthanded.
