The Twins fielded their everyday lineup to start the game, and finished spring training with a 1-1, seven-inning tie against Pittsburgh in Fort Myers, Fla., on Tuesday.
The Twins had only one hit, a first inning groundball single by Luis Arraez.
Mitch Garver started at catcher, Miguel Sano at first, Jorge Polanco at second, Andrelton Simmons at shortstop, Josh Donaldson at third, Max Kepler in rightfield, Byron Buxton in center and Arraez in left. Nelson Cruz was the designated hitter.
Pittsburgh's Ke'Bryan Hayes hit a home run off Matt Shoemaker in the first inning.The Twins loaded the bases at the bottom of the first when Arraez singled and Cruz and Polanco walked before Kepler hit a sacrifice fly.
Shoemaker went three innings, allowing two hits while striking out two. Randy Dobnak also pitched two hitless innings.
