FORT MYERS, FLA. – Willians Astudillo and Alex Kirilloff each hit RBI singles. Adam Rosales blasted a home run to straightaway center field.

The Twins were on their way to a nice and tidy game Sunday before they tried to squeeze a third relief inning out of Chase De Jong. The righthander failed to survive the inning, as the Red Sox unloaded with seven runs in the sixth and eventually won 9-7 at JetBlue Park.

De Jong took the mound for the sixth inning with a 3-2 lead. He gave up two soft singles, including one to right that was lost in the sun, and couldn't pitch out of the jam. De Jong faced six batters in the inning, giving up three singles, a home run and another single.

"That inning started out with a ball that fell in because of the sun, then they rolled over a ground ball," said bench coach Derek Shelton, who managed the split-squad game for the Twins with Rocco Baldelli staying at Hammond Stadium for the game against Philadelphia. "It kind of snowballed on him."

Minor leaguer Dario Alvarez replaced De Jong and gave up the final run of the inning. The Twins scored twice in the eighth and two more in the ninth on Brian Navaretto's two-run homer.
