Two suspects were taken into custody after they allegedly rammed a squad car in Hudson, Wis., then led police on a high-speed chase on Interstate 94 during the Friday morning rush hour. The chase eventually ended in Oakdale.

The incident started shortly before 9 a.m. when Hudson police officers, along with deputies from the St. Croix and Washington County sheriff's offices, were assisting on the U.S. Marshal's Service task force to apprehend a fugitive at a motel on Crest View Drive in Hudson, the frontage road along I-94, police said.

The 29-year-old fugitive was being sought on warrants from Ramsey County for theft, robbery, fleeing police and violating his probation.

The fugitive and another suspect left the motel in a white sport-utility vehicle, then fled when police tried to stop them. They rammed a Hudson squad car at the intersection of Crest View and Carmichael Road, then headed west into Minnesota on the freeway.

Several more law enforcement agencies joined the high-speed chase before the SUV was located to the north on Interstate 694.

The fugitive and driver abandoned the vehicle near an LA Fitness Center at the junction of I-694 and Hwy. 5. The driver was arrested in the fitness center.
