A head-on crash north of the Twin Cities killed both drivers, officials said Tuesday.
The collision involving an SUV and a compact car occurred shortly after 2 p.m. Monday in Athens Township on 269th Avenue NE. near the intersection with Tucker Trail NE., the Isanti County Sheriff's Office said.
Deputies arrived to find both drivers dead, the Sheriff's Office said. They had no passengers.
The Sheriff's Office identified the victims as Calvin Durward Jacobsen, 95, of Bradford Township, Minn., and Nicholas Paul Murray, 29, of Isanti, Minn. Jacobsen was driving the SUV and Murray the car.
The State Patrol is working to determine the circumstances leading up to the crash, said Sheriff Wayne Seiberlich.
