LONDON – Vikings receiver Greg Jennings said the transition at quarterback from Christian Ponder to Matt Cassel would be a smooth one if indeed Ponder's rib injury leads to Cassel making his Vikings debut against the Steelers on Sunday at Wembley Stadium.
"We've gotten a ton of work with Matt," Jennings said after Wednesday's practice at the Grove Hotel in Watford, England. "Even before this week, he's always been in there periodically throwing the ball. We see a lot of his balls coming our way, so it won't be something that's unusual for us to see Matt back there taking some snaps."
After what happened with Joe Webb in last season's playoff loss at Green Bay, Vikings GM Rick Spielman made a point this offseason to sign a backup who fit the offensive scheme and wouldn't require a separate game plan to be rushed into play in the event of an injury to Ponder.
Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday the Vikings wouldn't "have to alter a whole lot of things we have in the game plan" if Cassel has to play.
