Vikings defensive tackle Tom Johnson was arrested in Minneapolis early Sunday on suspicion of trespassing and disorderly conduct.

He was booked at the Hennepin County jail at 3:18 a.m. on the misdemeanor charges and released at 10 a.m. after posting $78 bail, jail records show.

Johnson, 30, an offseason acquisition who played previously with the New Orleans Saints, has a court date set for Oct. 17.

Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said Sunday that he had no additional information about the arrest. Details could come Monday, he said.

In a statement, the Vikings said, "We are continuing to gather information and will have further comment at the appropriate time."

Before arriving in Minnesota, Johnson spent three seasons with the Saints. He has appeared in all five Vikings games this season, including one as a starter, and has recorded seven tackles and two sacks, and forced one fumble.

He is the third Vikings player to run into legal troubles this season.

Running back Adrian Peterson was benched after being indicted in Texas last month on child abuse charges, and wide receiver Jerome Simpson was released from the team in September after being cited for drug possession and two other charges after a traffic stop in Bloomington.
