NORTH DAKOTA 6, MICHIGAN TECH 1: Matt Frattin had a goal and three assists Friday night as the top-ranked Sioux clinched the WCHA regular-season championship outright by blowing out the last-place Huskies in Houghton, Mich.The Sioux (25-8-3, 20-6-1 WCHA) won the MacNaughton Cup, given to the WCHA regular-season champ, for the second time in three years. They close out the regular season Saturday against the Huskies (4-27-4, 2-23-2), then play Michigan Tech again next weekend in the first round of the WCHA playoffs in Grand Forks.

"There's a real sense of pride in that accomplishment," Sioux coach Dave Hakstol said. "It's a grind through the regular season to get to this point. To be able to clinch that tonight, it's a great achievement."

North Dakota has beaten Michigan Tech eight consecutive times and improved to 7-0-1 in its past eight games.

ST. CLOUD STATE 3, DENVER 2: Aaron Marvin scored the winning goal with 1:36 to play as the Huskies (15-15-5, 11-12-4) won their third game in a row, beating the host Pioneers (20-10-5, 16-8-3).

Denver's loss, combined with Minnesota Duluth's victory over Nebraska-Omaha, created a tie between the Pioneers and Bulldogs for second place in the WCHA with one game remaining. Both teams have 35 points, with Nebraska-Omaha at 34.

Hanowski's power-play goal gave St. Cloud State a 2-1 lead after one period. Luke Salazer had the first goal for Denver and Nick Shore tied the score at 2-2 with a goal at 3:54 of the third.

MINNESOTA DULUTH 4, NEBRASKA-OMAHA 1: Travis Oleksuk scored two first-period goals as the host Bulldogs (20-8-6, 15-7-5) won and leaped over the Mavericks (20-13-2, 16-9-2) in the WCHA standings. UMD goalie Kenny Reiter made 13 of his 29 saves in the third period. Johnnie Searfoss scored the only goal for the Mavericks, who got 31 saves from goalie John Faulkner.

COLORADO COLLEGE 3, WISCONSIN 2: David Civitarese scored the winning goal at 17 minutes, 5 seconds of the third period as the Tigers (19-15-3, 13-12-2) won in Madison, Wis., to clinch home ice for the first round of the playoffs. The Badgers (19-14-4, 11-14-3) are 0-6-1 in their past seven games. Justin Schultz had a goal and an assist for Colorado College, which got 26 saves from Joe Howe.

ALASKA-ANCHORAGE 4, MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO 0: Chris Kamal made 35 saves as the Seawolves (13-17-3, 10-15-2) blanked the host Mavericks (14-15-6, 8-15-4). Nick Haddad had two goals and Tommy Grant and Craig Parkinson added a goal each.
