At Pearl Harbor Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg High School, about 15 miles west of Willmar, Minn., will perform at Pearl Harbor as part of an international mass band. Eighty-three students — more than one-third of the high school's enrollment — will play. At the USS Arizona There will be two interments there, including that of John D. Anderson, a former Minnesotan who was aboard the ship that morning. His ashes will rejoin his twin brother, Delbert "Jake" Anderson, whose body was never recovered from the ship. John Anderson had been ordered off the ship during the attack, but, once at shore, grabbed an empty boat and went back to the Arizona in the midst of the attack, nearly losing his life in the process, in an attempt to find his twin. Kellogg Blvd. It is hosted by the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, Fort Snelling National Cemetery Memorial Rifle Squad and Minnesota Department of Veteran Affairs, and will feature Pearl Harbor survivor Richard Thill. Also at the Minnesota Historical Society, author Marc Wortman will discuss the events leading up to Pearl Harbor at 3:30 p.m.
