Nerhaugen, Elaine 10/13/1923 - 8/31/2024 Elaine, age 100, was born and raised in Duluth, Minnesota. She met her future husband, Jim Nerhaugen, when they both attended Central High School. Elaine attended junior college then moved to Minneapolis to work while living in a boarding house. Jim served in WWII then returned home at the end of the war and they were married on December 28, 1945. Elaine worked for a short time after marriage but later stayed at home to raise her three children. Elaine had a beautiful voice and would sing in choirs and also sang for prisoners in jail during church services Sunday mornings. Elaine had many interests like knitting, sewing, embroidering, painting, golfing, cooking, baking, gardening and bridge. She and Jim had many friends through the years; however, her most important job and joy was being a mother and having fun raising her children. In recent years Elaine lived at Johanna Shores Senior Living where she made many friends and loved the staff there. Mom, we miss you with all our hearts and know we will be with you some day in heaven. Preceded in death by husband James Nerhaugen. Survived by children Jillaine, Jacki and Alan (Kimberly); grandchildren Gale, Carter (Kristy) and Britta (Bryan); great-grandchildren Brooks, Boston and Lily. Visitation Friday, September 13, 5:00 PM-7:00 PM at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel. Funeral service to be held Saturday, September 14 at 11:00 AM at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel, 515 Hwy 96 W, Shoreview. Burial at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
