Marcia Jeanne Bernhagen

Bernhagen, Marcia Jeanne lived a long full life surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 27th, 1928, in Willmar, MN and died peacefully on August 31st, 2024, in Bloomington, MN where she raised her family. She is preceded in death by her parents Mable and Gene Hed, brother Dave Hed, husband Mike Bernhagen, daughter Pam Hohman, and her son Kevin Bernhagen. She is survived by her daughter Sheila (Ken) Johnson, her son Craig (Jill) Bernhagen, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, who all affectionately called her "Grams". She is also survived by many loving and very special nieces and nephews. Her children, and family were the Joy of her life, and she will be dearly missed by them all. A memorial service will be held on Monday September 16th at Washburn- Mcreavy Funeral Chapel - 5000 W 50th St, Edina, Mn at 11:00 am, with the visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. Otto Berzins

Berzins, Otto Age 91 of Minneapolis, passed away August 15, 2024. Preceded in death by daughter- in-law Kathy (Hukriede) Berzins. Survived by son Ronald (Jean) Berzins, nephew Martin (Thuson) Berzins, granddaughters; Stephanie (Nate) Voigt, Rebecca (Dan) Vieth, and Nadeen Fiedler, great-grandchildren; Blair Voigt, Annashay and Luella Vieth, and Griffin and Madelyn Fiedler. Otto came to the U.S. in 1950 from Latvia, lived in Wisconsin for a short time, then moved to Minneapolis, where he lived the rest of his life. He worked as a Machinist until he retired. Bittner, Evelyn Barbara age 88, passed away on August 28, 2024, in Bloomington, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024, at The Church of St. Bonaventure, 901 E. 90th Street, Bloomington, MN, 55420. Barbara Joy Bonneville

Bonneville, Barbara Joy Nov. 28, 1940 - Sept. 3, 2024 Barbara Joy Bonneville (Barb), passed away peacefully on September 3, 2024. She was born November 28, 1940, in Kansas City Missouri to Joy and Marie Reuter. She is survived by her husband of sixty years James (Jim) Bonneville and her sister Kathy (Tom) Kime. Family members include sisters-in-law Barb O'Brien (Dan), Mary Lou Bonneville and nieces, Casey, Krista, Shannon, Karie, Betsy, Melissa, nephew Michael (Beth) and numerous great nieces and nephews. Family members that preceded Barb were her parents, sister-in-law Janice Bonneville and brother-in-law Bill Bonneville. Barb grew up In Minneapolis, graduating from Washburn High School, class of 1958. She attended The University of Minnesota where she met Jim in a Psychology class. She then transferred St. Cloud State University to follow Jim and in 1963 was awarded a BS degree in teaching. While in school, Barb worked at the Dayton's Department Store Oval room and learned a great deal about fashion. She enjoyed shopping and always wanted to look her best and she did. Barb taught in the Minneapolis school system for thirty years and became a mentor to many at Hale Elementary School. Barb and Jim welcomed Janice- one of her students- to their home and she became a lifelong member of their family. Barb loved her extended family and was mentor to many nieces and enjoyed their personal growth. She was blessed with many lifelong friends- loved them all. She enjoyed travel with numerous trips to Europe, Mexico, Israel, Alaska, western US and a special trip to Japan, China, Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos. Barb had a special interest in Laos due to the positive influence and growth of Laotian (Hmong) people in the Twin Cities. She spent many years as a snowbird visiting southwest Florida and gaining many friends during that time. Barb supported charities such as the Serria Club, Audubon Society, PBS, Arboretum and others. Barb's faith was of Hope and Joy for all People. She was an amazing wife, best friend, partner, advisor, trip planner and friend to many and will be missed. A service will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis on Thursday October 10 at 11:00. 1200 Marquette Ave. (612-332-3421). Visitation at 10:00. A livestream will be available (go to westminstermpls.online.church) for viewing. The parking entrance is 95-99 Alice Rainville Place between Nicollet Mall and Marquette Avenue. Marilyn Bryant

Bryant, Marilyn Marilyn Queen Tickle Bryant died September 10, 2024, at age 97. Marilyn was born on May 8, 1927, in Minneapolis to Mildred and Richard Tickle. As a girl, she lived in South Minneapolis and Edina. She attended Wooddale School and graduated from Northrup Collegiate School in 1945. Marilyn attended Bryn Mawr College, then returned to the University of Minnesota where she graduated in philosophy with Phi Beta Kappa honors. In 1952, she married Jack Bryant, who was her first date in fifth grade. Together, they moved to the Wayzata area and raised their 3 children and many golden retrievers. Marilyn and family spent time along the north shore of Lake Superior where they loved to hike with Marilyn leading the group. She and Jack loved to travel on hiking and rafting adventures around the world. She adored her grandchildren who called her, "Great One." Marilyn was devoted to her family and work in the community. She served as a member of many non-profit boards dedicated to education, health, and women's leadership. Her leadership included work with the Junior League of Minneapolis, the University of Minnesota Foundation, Metropolitan State University Foundation, Minnesota Higher Education Coordinating Board, the University of Minnesota Hospitals Foundation, and the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota. Marilyn and her brothers, Rich and Bob Tickle, endowed the Tickle Chair of Breast Cancer Research at the Masonic Cancer Center, the first endowed chair for cancer research at the institution. Marilyn was a champion of women's rights and leadership as a founder and board member of the Women's Campaign Fund and the Minnesota Women's Political Caucus which continue today as Women Winning. She worked to bring funding for promising women students by establishing student scholarships at the University of Minnesota and Metropolitan State University. Through the years, Marilyn garnered many awards and honors, a favorite was being named a Champion on a Wheaties box. Marilyn was predeceased by her parents, husband and brothers. She is survived by her children John M. Bryant (Debra), Kathleen W. Bryant (Jonathan Lindfors) and Anne Bryant Wight (Robert), and grandchildren Elizabeth Struse (Charles), Sarah Bryant Landman (Sean), Jack Bryant (Mackenzie), Richard Lindfors-Ackerman (Kayla), William Lindfors, John Wight, and Caroline Wight, and five great-grandchildren Memorials in Marilyn's name are invited to: Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota Foundation, P.O. Richard Eldon Carlson

Carlson, Richard Eldon 81, passed away September 3, 2024. Richard grew up in Minneapolis and was a member of the Washburn Class of 1961. He worked 34 years as a Civil Engineering Technician for Hennepin County Public Works. He is survived by his wife Mary, son Greg (Sarah), son Scott, sister Diane Brynildson and granddaughters Meredith and Anna. Preceded in death by parents Ernest and Hedvig Carlson. He spent many years at the family cabin on Lake Sylvia and also enjoyed retirement in The Villages, FL.
